Full Native Client Security
All recent generations of the Widevine technology have supported HW level integration in the chipset of the client device, offering so called Level 1 security which is required for premium content including Ultra HD, 4K and HDR. This security model is integrated with Chrome and Android support of MPEG-DASH and Google's own WebM video format.
MPEG-DASH and CMAF Streams
The Widevine DRM service fully leverages Common Encryption (CENC) to enable a single stream with universal client DRM compatibility. The native AES CTR and CBC encryption key system already adopted throughout the industry gives full future CMAF compatibility.
